4 Tips for Quick Weight Loss

After having bariatric surgery many patients expect the weight to fall off almost effortlessly, and at times for many it seems to do just that! For others, however, weight loss is still a trial even after having bariatric surgery, such as Lap-band surgery. Once you hit a weight loss plateau it often feels like you will never get back on track. Don’t give up on your weight loss goals! Follow these four simple tips and help yourself get back on track right away!

  1. Don’t eat refined sugars! That pretty much cuts out all candy and most cakes and cookies. Replace sugar with other natural substitutes such as fruit! If you really need to have a sweet, there are plenty of recipes around that taste great with all healthy natural ingredients.
  2. Eat more fruits and veggies. Fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins and nutrients. After weight loss surgery you will not eat as much as you used to, so it is important that what you do eat is good for you!
  3. Stay Hydrated! Drink a lot of water! Water helps you to feel full, and does not have any added calories. Drink a glass of water before eating and you are likely to be full with less food.
  4. Eat less Carbs. This is especially true for complex carbohydrates, such as starches. These foods are packed with calories and are not going to fill you up, so you will need to eat a lot to stay full, which counteracts weight loss goals!
