Jessie: 150 lbs Weight Loss

Jessie: 150 lbs Weight Loss
Hello, my name is Jessie. I’m 26 years old and spent the majority of my life overweight and unhappy with myself. I was a borderline diabetic with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. When I was 24 I got pregnant with my daughter Lillian. I wasn’t supposed to be able to have children and at 305lbs I wasn’t at a safe weight to carry her. She was born 14 weeks premature because of my PCOS and my weight. We spent 3 months in the hospital with her not sure if she was going to survive. Thankfully she did survive and with no complications, our little miracle baby! That was my turning point. My weight could have caused us to lose our little blessing and that almost killed me. I started looking into the gastric bypass process right away. I did a lot of research and all of my hard work led me to the same place – Warrenton Weight Loss Institute.

Before my surgery my doctor and his nurses were very helpful in answering all of my questions and help me come to the decision that would forever change my life. During and after my surgery my doctor and his staff were always there to help me with anything I needed, answer any questions I had and help keep me on the weight loss path I had chosen.

When I started my weight loss journey I weighed 295.5lbs, during my journey I found that I had increase energy very quickly. I was able to run after my daughter and go sledding with my son, something I wasn’t able to do before. I very quickly became aware of how my weight was affecting so many aspects of my life. I was always unhappy and angry with everyone for no reason. I had no self-esteem and I took that out on the people I loved. As I started to lose the weight I noticed that I was happier, not just with myself but in my everyday life. I found I wasn’t getting upset about silly things and the people around me noticed the changes in my moods and behaviors as well.

Over the last 18 months I have managed to lose all of my excess weight I was hoping to lose and then some. Thanks to the very helpful and knowledgeable staff at Taylor Bariatric Institute I was able to surpass my weight loss goals. In 1 year I lost 150lbs! I feel great, I look amazing, and it was all worth it. I am no longer anywhere close to being diabetic, my PCOS has gone away and I am healthy and able to have more children when I’m ready. Everything I ever wanted has come to me, I finally feel that I am exactly who I wanted to be inside and out.

A special thank you to my doctor, Dr. J. Taylor, from the bottom of my heart. First your advice and ability to answer all my pre and post-surgery questions no matter how silly they may have seemed. Then after my surgery you were always there to help me stay on my weight loss path and give me advice to make this a fun and beneficial journey.

During the 18 months that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Taylor and his team I have been able to get any and all questions and concerns answered, but the best part is that they treated me like a friend not just another patient.

Thank you again Dr. Taylor, you’ve not only helped me lose a total of 170lbs in 18 months but you’ve also changed my life for the better and I will never forget you!

You look great, congrats! My question (and more a concern) is that many people I’ve known who have had the Gastric Bypass have lots of excess skin due to quick weight loss and not working-out to achieve it. Did you have a problem with this? I am looking at your arms and they look great, my friend had a lot of excess skin under her arms after her weight loss. Just curious what your experience was. Thanks for your story!
